With more than 15,000 employees worldwide, polymer specialist REHAU AG is one of the largest employers in the Upper Franconian region of Germany. The

central main building

of the corporation, the Rheniumhaus, was built in 1967/68 as one of the first open-plan offices. As the most significant point of contact for all employees and guests of REHAU AG, the ground floor has now been completely renovated.

forecourt before the renovation.

A large empty area offers a rather cold and uninviting welcome to the company's many visitors.

Inside the building, a plethora of built-in components from various decades and use-changes meant that

no clear structure

was visible in the space anymore.

The office building, completed in 1968, has been subjected to a

complete refurbishment.

In previous years, the upper two floors had already been completely renovated and the office space there redesigned.

The outdoor facilities have also been completely updated and now offer high-quality recreational space as well as the opportunity for

temporary outdoor work.

¯I Open Space

Two complementary areas reflect the needs of staff and visitors: The

Open Space

is intended as a shared meeting place. Great emphasis was placed on accessibility, openness, and versatility. The even transition from inside to outside is not only evident in the flowing material and height-equal transition of the floor, but also in the ceilings, which were inspired by the color of the exterior facades.

which combines more secluded features such as training and meeting rooms, video conferencing rooms, and quiet areas.

The Enclosed Space was deliberately set off in a different color from the Open Space: a palette of warm shades of yellow and green create a

pleasant atmosphere

for more reserved work and discussions.
